Guide prices include labour, oil, filters and VAT. Some engines need special oil or more of it, so we confirm the price on your registration before we start.
Which service does your car need?
Oil change
Engine oil and oil filter, plus a quick look at levels and tyres. For cars between services or on a short-trip diet.
Interim service
Every 6 months or 6,000 miles. Oil and filter, fluid top-ups, brakes, tyres, lights, steering and suspension checked.
Full service
Once a year or every 12,000 miles. Everything in the interim plus the air filter and a longer list of checks underneath the car.
Major service
Every two years or 24,000 miles. Adds the cabin filter, fuel filter on diesels, spark plugs on petrols and brake fluid where due.
What happens on the day
The car goes up on the lift and we work through the checklist for its service level. Anything that is worn but still safe is written down as advice, with a rough price, so you can plan it.
If we find something that needs doing now, such as pads down to the metal or a split boot, we stop and phone you. Nothing is added to the bill without a yes from you.
Most services are done the same day if the car is with us by 9am. The service book or the online record is updated before the car leaves.

Service with an MOT
MOTs are carried out at a local authorised test station: we collect the car, take it for the test and bring it back, and any failures or advisories are quoted and fixed at our workshop.
£25 with a full or major service
Book the MOT alongside a full or major service and it is £25.
£30 with an interim
Add the MOT to an interim service for £30.
£54.85 on its own
The MOT on its own is £54.85, collection included.

Servicing for Royston and nearby villages
The workshop is at Unit 6, Block 2, Lower Gower Road, off the A505 on the north side of Royston. Collection is free within 5 miles of the workshop. From Ashwell, Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin or Buntingford, ask us about collection when you book. You are always welcome to drop the car off yourself.
Cars from Melbourn and Bassingbourn are usually collected in the morning and back the same afternoon. Further out, we agree the collection time when you book so the car is home when you need it.

How much is a full service?
Our guide price for a full service starts at £177.82 for engines up to 1200cc and includes oil, filters, labour and VAT. We confirm the exact price on your registration.
Will a service at an independent garage affect my warranty?
No. Block exemption rules let you have the car serviced outside the dealer while it is under manufacturer warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule and uses the right parts and oil.
Do you stamp the service book?
Yes. We stamp the book or update the digital service record before the car comes back.
Can you do the MOT at the same time?
Yes. We take the car to a local authorised test station after the service. It is £25 with a full or major service and £30 with an interim.
How long does a service take?
Most are finished the same day if the car is with us before 9am.
