Which Focus models are affected?
Mk3 Focus (2012 to 2018): the 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder has the timing belt in oil. This is the one we replace most often.
Mk4 Focus (2018 on): mostly a timing chain, with a small oil pump belt still in the oil. Some versions need only the oil pump belt and strainer work. We check from the registration.
The 1.5 and 1.6 petrols and the diesels use different engines.

New crank front seal, friction washer and crank bolt.
Oil pump and strainer
The oil pump is taken off and checked, and the strainer is cleaned.

Rocker cover gasket, oil filter and Ford-spec 5W-20.

Ford’s interval is by age as well as miles. A low-mileage Focus can still be due.
Oil history
Wrong oil or long gaps between changes wear the belt faster. Tell us what you know.

How long it takes
Most wet belt jobs take one working day. If the car reaches us before 9am it is usually ready the same afternoon. A Friday job that runs over is finished on the Saturday so you can collect it, and a booked weekend job dropped off by 9am Saturday is done by Sunday.

Is the Focus job the same as the Fiesta?
The engine is the same, so the parts and the process are the same.
Does the Mk4 Focus need this job?
Most Mk4s use a chain for the camshafts but still have the oil pump belt in oil. We tell you which job applies.
Can I wait until it starts making noise?
We wouldn’t. By the time a worn belt is noisy, debris may already be on the strainer.
